Rajasthan, Kerala and Karnataka emerged as overall category top performers in the first ever ranking of school education quality carried out by Niti Ayog on School education Quality Index 2019. Delhi has been ranked among best in governance. On the other hand Punjab, J & K and UP have figured at the bottom of rankings.
The rankings are based on 30 indicator for which weightage has been assigned. 50% weightage has been assigned to learning outcomes. The other indicators are infrastructure, vocational courses, teachers – student attendance, utilisation of funds etc.
The report has highlighted that fewer children are enrolling in primary schools with the biggest drop being in Jharkhand.
