Telangana and Andhra Pradesh schools closed today due to protest for not meeting students demand

All India Students’ Federation (AISF) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) supported by Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF) have called a bandh so that all schools remain closed on 25 July 23 to protest against the various irregularities prevalent in the education sector. Several schools across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are likely to remain closed. However, the government has not issued any official notice of the closing of the school.
A number of pending demands have been reiterated as a reason for this bandh, viz, the urgent need for upgrades to the fundamental amenities offered in dormitories was one of the main demands made by the student unions.
There is also a demand for a reduction in mess fees, as many students are unable to pay the present costs. According to many sources from the student union, there are a number of vacant warden, cook, and watchman posts in hostels that must be filled right away in order to protect the welfare and safety of the students. The student unions requested for the construction of compound walls surrounding the women’s dorms in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and Gurukuls throughout both states in addition to their demands about hostels.
Around 50 girls at a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Amarchinta hamlet became unwell after eating tainted food, drawing attention to the poor quality of the food being given and the usage of rotting tomatoes in their meals. This led to the decision to organise a bandh.
The government’s anti-student policies were denounced by the Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF), who also offered their support for the school bandh. The TNSF President argued for a pricing system set up by the government to assure affordability for all students and requested harsh actions against private business schools that raised tuition.
