Allahabad High Court on 6 January 2023 had directed Noida Schools to refund 15% of fee charged during the covid pandemic (2020-21 session) by 6 March 2023.
UP government had asked the schools to refund 15% of fees to students who had left the schools and offer rebates to those who continued.
By 6 March 2023 as schools did not make refunds, the parents started protesting. On 19 April, the District Inspector of Schools send notice to about 100 schools for complying the High Court directions which was ignored by the schools.
On 26 April, the District Magistrate slapped a penalty of Rs 1 lac on these 100 schools for violation of directions and will further increase this penalty to Rs 5 lac if the schools fail to make refunds.
